The California High School Proficiency Exam

The CHSPE Test is the California High School Proficiency Examination. This test allows students at age 16 and up, to take it as a replacement for a high school diploma. There are many rules governing the test and one would do well to check these rules before deciding this test is for you.

The CHSPE Test also does not replace the completion of course work and can hinder the college entrance process or even military service, so its important to check this out before deciding if the CHSPE Test is the best way to go.

The decision to take the Chspe Test before the age of 18 must be pre-approved by parent to allow the student to stop attending school and a passage of the test is also required. It is required by California State Law that any employer in the state requiring a high school diploma for employment, must also accept the CHSPE Test Certification as such.

While the CHSPE Test is a good alternative to a high school diploma, it is probably not the best alternative. An education can be a person's most important tool in life. While education alone isn't the secret to success, it has been said that knowledge is the key to wisdom and wisdom the key to life.

The Chspe Test is a 3 and a half hour, multiple choice test with the exception of the writing portion of the test which requires a well written, persuasive essay. The rest of the test covers language arts, reading and math. Passing this test is a requirement before the student stops attending school, unless they are 18 years of age.

Again, the CHSPE Test should not be a student's first choice. Finishing high school is an important task for all students and quitting should not be an option that is considered lightly. This test, just as many of its kind, is a product of necessity and should only be considered if necessary.

It is certain that many have felt the necessity of helping their family earn a living or other reasons beyond comprehension at times, and if this is the case, then the CHSPE Test is the right choice. It offers a person a chance to continue their education at a later date in college or university among other opportunities that may otherwise be denied.
